Benny’s Memory Garden of Yarn

Benny and I know how badly pet owners feel when a loved critter is gone. I will clean, process and blend dog or cat hair with soft wool, and spin it into a yarn for you to knit in memory of your pal. It doesn’t take more than a few ounces.

Tips: Pet hair is more manageable if it is brushed from a coat instead of sheared after death. If you know your friend is getting on in years, or in poor health, do us both a favor and gently brush some doggie or kitty fur and save it. And, be aware that dog and cat yarn is VERY warm. I have done some beloved Australian Shepherd hats here in Western Montana where winters are often cold and heard that they are quite toasty.

Benny has offered his opinion that if all pets were sheep, as they should be, this would be easier.

Mohair and Other Yarns

We dye brushed mohair yarn just for the fun of it. And are starting to dye big nubby wool yarn as well. Not to mention yards of raw silk, but don’t tell my husband – he won’t know until we get something finished and get it on the website. : )
